AIgent: Empowering Military Veterans at the FBI

The Value of Military Personnel at the FBI

Veterans bring experience, leadership, integrity, teamwork, and dedication to the FBI. This diverse skill set can be leveraged across multiple roles within the organization, ranging from healthcare and telecommunications to language specialists and special agents with military backgrounds.

FBI Academy Training and Experience

Based in Quantico, Virginia, the FBI Academy provides world-class training for special agents, intelligence analysts, and law enforcement partners. Participants engage in hands-on simulations to prepare for real-life law enforcement scenarios. The Academy's proximity to the U.S. Marine Corps Base fosters a unique environment for learning and development.

Veterans' Preference and Eligibility

Through Veterans' Preference, military veterans receive priority in hiring at the FBI. Age restriction waivers may also apply to eligible veterans. To qualify, candidates must meet FBI eligibility requirements, such as U.S. citizenship, obtaining a Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information Clearance, holding a valid driver's license, and complying with the FBI Employment Drug Policy.

Wounded Warrior Internship Program Opportunities

The Wounded Warrior Internship Program (WWIP) supports wounded veterans in transitioning back to civilian life through career-driven experiences. Eligible applicants, active-duty service members recovering from medical procedures, can apply to intern at FBI Headquarters or field offices. The WWIP serves as a working interview to assess candidates for potential permanent employment at the FBI.

Veterans Benefits and Additional Support

Military veterans at the FBI enjoy a competitive benefits package along with additional veterans benefits. These include military buyback for federal retirement, up to 15 days of paid military leave, Thrift Savings Plan contributions with a 5% FBI match, medical leave benefits for disabled veterans, and access to special benefits for disabled veterans. These benefits aim to support veterans' post-military careers and well-being.

Exploring Related Opportunities for Veterans

Veterans with experience in skilled trades and security and surveillance from the U.S. Military can find valuable opportunities at the FBI. Roles in automotive, machine, electrical repair, carpentry, locksmithing, security, and surveillance align with veterans' skill sets and offer fulfilling career paths within the organization.
