Upon conducting a thorough analysis of the client's onboard generator plant operations, Nautilus discovered that the efficiency stood at a suboptimal 35.6%, leading to excessive fuel consumption, heightened emissions, and increased maintenance costs due to running more generators than necessary. By leveraging high-frequency data and the Nautilus Platform, the most effective configuration of online generator plants was identified for the required power demand. The optimization process resulted in a substantial improvement, transitioning from 35.6% efficiency to an impressive 92.4%. This transformation led to a total savings of $142,000, consisting of $43,000 in fuel savings and $99,000 in reduced maintenance costs. Notably, this optimization also led to a reduction of 500 metric tons of CO2 emissions, equivalent to removing 108 cars from the road for an entire year.

Broader Fleet Analysis and Continued Efficiency Improvements

Extending beyond the initial case, Nautilus conducted multiple analyses across the broader fleet of the client, resulting in enhanced overall efficiency and savings. By optimizing generator operations during voyages with cargo, the optimal configuration increased significantly to over 64%, up from a mere 15% in the previous period. Nautilus's attention to client-specific needs, such as safety requirements for vessels and crew, ensures a tailored approach to optimization. Utilizing Nautilus Platform, users receive real-time alerts if generator usage exceeds optimal levels, preventing unnecessary fuel consumption and maintenance costs.
