Qualified Level 2 (Formerly Family Grouping) Product Submission Guidelines

Eligibility Criteria for Level 2 Applications

To qualify for a Level 2 application, a group of products must meet specific criteria. The family group should consist of a single LED package/module/array or a standardized set of LED packages/modules/arrays. The fixture must showcase scalability or modular use of identical LED components across electronics, optics, heat sinking, and other relevant features. While certain design parameters can vary, they should not impact performance significantly. Multiple driver variations and LED drive currents are permissible within a family group. The physical housing and assembly of products in the family must share identical material, construction, and shape with differing dimensions in sub-groups where applicable.

Model Number Requirements

Submitters must provide complete model numbers that encompass all product options within the family group. These model numbers should include all variations, both performance-affecting and non-affecting, available to customers. Options like exterior paint colors, mounting types, and plugins can be bracketed within a single model number if they do not impact performance. However, options affecting performance like lumen output or dimming capabilities must be listed separately. Alternate drivers can be included in a model number if their performance is nominally the same.

Brand Name Guidelines

Including a brand name in product applications is mandatory to enhance functionality on Qualified Products Lists (QPLs). Consistent brand name nomenclature improves searchability and simplifies the selection process for users. It is advised to avoid spelling errors, extra characters, or spaces when specifying brand names. Multiple variations of brand names can lead to confusion for users. Manufacturers can update brand names on the QPLs at no cost by submitting a Product Update Application.
