RISD Continuing Education Scholarship Fund
The RISD Continuing Education Scholarship Fund aids students of all ages in pursuing their artistic ambitions through subsidized tuition and essential materials. These scholarships support individuals from historically underrepresented groups, first-generation students, low-income students, and those from Rhode Island. The awards, available for fall, winter, spring, and summer terms, cater to adult extension and youth courses by offsetting a portion of the tuition for a single course. Applicants must demonstrate significant financial need, meet the application deadlines specified on the RISD CE calendar, and maintain good standing with RISD CE. To apply, students can access the scholarship application in the Student Portal.
Partner Scholarships
RISD Continuing Education collaborates with partner organizations to provide scholarships for historically underrepresented students and youth interested in art and design careers. These external scholarships require nomination by a current partner organization and have specific selection criteria. Interested individuals should refer to the listed partner organizations such as the Rhode Island Department of Education, Creatives Want Change, and Project Open Door for more information. Nominations do not guarantee admission, and applicants must be nominated by the respective organizations to be considered.
Donor-Funded Scholarships
Donor-funded scholarships are available for students showcasing financial need in adult extension, youth, and Pre-Collegiate Programs courses at RISD CE. Applicants must meet the specified deadlines on the RISD CE calendar and submit the Scholarship Application through the Student Portal. The scholarships offset a portion of a single course's tuition and cater to individuals who have previously attended RISD CE courses or applied for scholarships. It is essential to maintain good standing with RISD CE to be eligible for such awards.
Additional Opportunities and Discounts
Further opportunities for financial assistance include the Arlene Shechet Fund, Providence Performing Arts, and the Patricia W. Edwards Memorial Art Scholarship Fund. Tuition discounts are available for senior citizens, RISD CE certificate recipients, alumni, matriculated students, and RISD Museum members. Eligible individuals can apply these discounts during the checkout process. Moreover, students receiving tuition reimbursement from employers can obtain an unofficial transcript from the Student Portal as proof of course completion.
